Visa Introduction
The temporary graduate visa (subclass 485) allows you to remain in Australia to live, study or work after you have finished your studies. The visa has two streams: Graduate Work stream and Post-Study Work stream. The length of your stay will depend on which stream you apply for.
Visa Feature
Graduate Work Stream
- Usually up to 18 months.
- Temporarily increased to 24 months for visas granted from 1 December 2021. Hong Kong and British National Overseas passport holders may stay for 5 years.
Post-Study Work Stream (485.23)
- Usually between 2 and 4 years, depending on your qualification.
- Hong Kong and British National Overseas passport holders may stay for 5 years.

Must nominate a skilled occupation in the prescribed list
