Visa Introduction
- migrate to Australia as a permanent resident
- study and access Medicare
- apply for Australian citizenship if eligible
The child must:
- be under 18 years of age, single and with no parent to care for them
- have a relative who is a settled Australian citizen, eligible New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident
- if choose to apply for subclass 117, the child must be outside Australia when the application is made and when we make a decision.
- if choose to apply for subclass 837, the child is in Australia at time of application and at time of decision
Sponsorship requirements
- The sponsor must be a settled Australian citizen, eligible New Zealand citizen, or Australian permanent resident.
- The sponsor must help the child settle in Australia.
- The sponsor must provide adequate accommodation and financial support to meet the child's reasonable living needs. This will be for their first 2 years in Australia.
Processing Time
- 25% of applications: 31 months
- 50% of applications: 49 months
- 75% of applications: 59 months
- 90% of applications: 76 months
